Smriti Irani, the original 'bahu' of Indian television, is planning to take a break from TV to concentrate on her political career for at least next two years. She is now the 'All India President of Bharatiya Janta Party's' women wing and is quite active in politics.

Apart from being in politics, Smriti is also concentrating in regional films. The actress has recently completed shooting for a Bengali film titled 'Amrita'. She is also venturing into Telegu films based on a very controversial theme of the Telengana issue. This Telugu film is titled 'Jai Bolo Telangana'.

Speaking about her Tollywood project, Smriti said that a journalist recommended her name to the film's director N Shankar. However, the 34-year-old actress is not bothered about the language of the film.

She says that if the film has an interesting script then she does not mind the language. Smriti said that the director was in search of a neutral face for the character and she suited the bill. She gave her nod for the project instantly after reading the script.

Coming to the television front, Smriti says that she can return to television anytime when she gets unemployed but for now her priority is politics. She has the confidence that she will never be out of work. The actress says that she needs to be there for her party whenever they want her. She can't stay busy with television projects at this moment.

Smriti is not interested in Bollywood projects now because she is only offered the kind of role she has done in 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi'.

Well, if Smriti wants to become a responsible politician now then we must appreciate her decision as a sensible Indian citizen. We can expect to see her on television after some years returning as an ideal 'saas'!
