After 6 years, Anil Kapoor-Anupam Kher end their war

After waging a cold war against each other for more than six years, Anil Kapoor and Anupam Kher have finally extended an olive branch to each other.

On Thursday night Kher was seen with his wife Kirron and son Sikander at Anil's 53rd birthday party at the latter's Juhu bungalow.

Kher said, "Life is about moving on and growing up as a person. I cannot pretend that everything is fine when it is not.

What happened a few years ago hurt, angered and upset me and I had reacted to it. I had conveyed that to Anil too. Today, I don't have such feelings in my mind.

I have moved ahead. To me the moments we shared as friends are more important than petty fights.

There are certain relationships that just remain on the pause button on the tape recorder. And you just start from where you left off. Anil and I have done the same."

Kher said that he started thawing when he worked with Anil's daughter Sonam in Mausam. "She is a lovely girl and I felt lot of warmth towards her.

I would be very protective of her on the sets like my own daughter. That's when I felt that why continue with this cold war?

Thursday night on Anil's birthday was not the first time we have met. I had gone earlier to Mehboob Studios and we chatted like old times.

Anil called me the other day and said that the trend of actors working outside India was started by me after I acted in Bend It Like Beckham."

Kher feels that at the end of the day it is important to be large hearted.

"When I felt angry I expressed my grievances but because we mattered to each other we are back. Our friendship has withstood the test of time.

I have always been honest in my friendships. In the film Lamhe, there is a dialogue & 'Aapko apni dil ki baat keh deni chahiye.' Friendship is about that."

Sore Ties Earlier

Anupam had announced his production Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Mara with himself in the lead. At the same time Kapoor had launched Gandhi, My Father with another actor in the title role without having informed Kher. This created a tiff between the duo.

During this cold war, Anupam didn't attend the premiere of Anil's daughter Sonam's debut film Saawariya or for his prestigious home production Gandhi, My Father.

Though Anil had attended Kher's son's premiere (Sikander's Woodstock Villa) things were not normal till their patch-up this year.
