The news from Sony Entertainment channel is almost clear though not official. Sony is also doing what England did to its Pop Idol opting in favour of X Factor in place of its simpler version - Pop Idol.

Indian Idol was created on the lines of Pop Idol, as the first Indian reality show for finding singing talents in the country. But as of now, Sony has said that it will retain Indian Idol while starting off the X Factor too.

The creator for the Pop Idol was Simon Fuller while for X Factor was Simon Cowell and Britain had opted for the latter in the year 2004, the year in which India kicked off its Indian Idol.

Do you think the change in format will bring in major changes in the people's perception towards the show? We guess not. In the absence of many 'controversial' judges in the show, we in fact predict that one of the judges for the show may even remain the same through the switch!

Another interesting aspect for the channel which has got the rights is that it is fast turning, its a reality show based channel with continuous additions.

Also, it is leading the Indian channels in terms of bringing the American and British shows to the Indian sub-continent. For now, it has its kitty full with the upcoming 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' with Amitabh Bachchan, 'Jhalak Dikhla Jaa' with Madhuri Dixit and 'Maa Exchange'.
