Actress Anushka Sharma has jumped to the defense of her next Delhi-based caper 'Ladies v/s Ricky Bahl', dismissing reports that the Yashraj film is a copy of the Hollywood comedy 'John Tucker Must Die'.

The actress reunites with her 'Band Baaja Baarat' co-star and reported boyfriend Ranveer Singh in the film and says that the 'copy' rumours are just plain mean. "You know what, it's really sad but true that the first thing when a film is announced, so many out there want to start drawing parallels with what has already been made.

No one cares that all of us are working hard on making an original product, " Anushka told. Starring Jesse Metcalfe in the title role, 'John Tucker Must Die' was about four young women played by Brittany Snow, Ashanti, Sophia Bush and Arielle Kebbel, who take him to task after finding out that he was cheating on them.

And 'Ladies...' has Ranveer Singh as the centre of attraction and Anushka along with Parineeti Chopra, Dipannita Sharma and Aditi Sharma giving him a taste of his own medicine.

"If you look at the synopsis of 'Ladies v/s Ricky Bahl', it clearly states that the male lead is a charming conman who cons girls for a living and makes money out of them but finally meets his match, which is me, " Anushka said about the film being directed by Maneesh Sharma.

The actress who made her Bollywood debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in the 2008 film 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi', says that the cynical attitude is a norm of the industry.

"I sometimes feel that some of us have a tendency to pull each other down. We don't need people from outside to peg us back, we ourselves are capable of doing it. People are keen to dissect and bisect all the Hollywood references without even checking the entire film. It's sad, " said the 24-year-old actress.

Though she has been a part of the industry for just over a couple of years, Anushka says that she is fast trying to learn the tricks of the trade. "I am now used to accepting things the way they are.

Let the people say their own thing, I have stopped worrying about them. They will eventually see what we have made when the film releases in December this year. It would be out in the open whether 'Ladies v/s Ricky Bahl' is similar to 'John Tucker Must Die' or not, " said the actress.
