Abhishek Bachchan fought a losing battle with his director to keep his character from dying in Dum Maaro Dum

If it were up to Abhishek Bachchan, his character in Dum Maaro Dum would still be alive. Apparently, he wasn't too happy with the ending of the film and has conveyed the same to the film's director (and his buddy) Rohan Sippy.

A source informs, "AB Jr wasn't in favour of his character in DMD, inspector Vishnu Kamath dying in the film. He didn't think it was a good idea. Rohan, however, strongly believed in the ending and tried convincing Abhishek.

He asked him to shoot the scene and told him that they would figure out a different ending on the edit. Abhi had only seen the rushes and was disappointed on seeing the complete film."

Sippy claims otherwise. "Abhishek hasn't told me that he is upset with the ending of the film. I don't think he should have any issues."

Was Abhi told about the film's ending? "Yes. He had seen the film several times. He saw the edits and the final copy, " he adds.

He further asserts, "I stand by the ending and if anyone who feels that by keeping AB alive in the film we would have done better business, they should know that Game (where he doesn't die) collected Rs 4.5 crore overall and we have collected R 16.5 crore in three days."

Bachchan remained unavailable for comment.

Did you know?

>> Even in Dilli 6, Abhishek had similar apprehensions about his character dying in the film. The ending was changed and his character was kept alive. It didn't change the fate of the film. >> Abhi was offered Rana's role (Joki, the musician) but he liked Kamath's role more. He wanted to play tough cop but with a few changes.
