Harsh Mayar, the 13 yearold kid and main protagonist of the film "I am Kalam" has added another featherto his cap by bagging the National Award in the child artiste category.

Withthis, the film has added one more brownie point to its kitty. I am Kalam nowhas 12 international and a National Award to its credit. Harsh's proud fatherAshok Mayar stated"I cannot stop the tears rolling down my cheeks. Icould not have asked for more. My son has made me so proud today. Winning theNational Award is the pinnacle of all achievements. "

Harsh Mayaralso has ambitious plan for other underprivileged children like him "I wouldlike to open schools for slum children so that the underprivileged kids are notleft uneducated. " Along with his brilliant acting this child actor has god'sgift of singing and dancing making him a treasure box of talent.

TheMovie "I am Kalam" produced by Smile Foundation is about Chotu, a young boyworking at a dhaba who has dreams of becoming educated one day.

Once he saw the then President of India, Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam addressing on television. Helearned that Kalam was a poor boy like him selling newspapers. Chotu has beensent away by his mother to work and he has no time to go to school. Inspired bya message from President Kalam that anyone can change his or her destiny byeducation, Chotu starts studying on his own whenever possible.

Through a chanceencounter, he befriends the local prince and the two secretly spend timetogether, planning their perfect futures. Both learn about life through theother's very differentexperiences. I Am Kalam am an endeavour in championing the cause of empoweringunderprivileged children through education.
