Shiv Sena wants Aamir

Shiv Sena has invited the actor to the inauguration of an all-Marathi BMC education project

Aamir Khan is a meticulous actor and is known as a perfectionist in both his personal and professional life.

From growing a handlebar moustache for a role in Mangal Pandey, picking up the tapori accent in Rangeela to bulking up for the lead in Ghajini, Aamir leaves no stone unturned when it comes to putting in an effort.

And now, Aamir will be facing his biggest test in the public eye.

Aamir, along with actor Madhuri Dixit are due as guests of honour at the inauguration of the Virtual Learning Education system on July 26.

The entire event, organised by the Shiv Sena-run civic body will be conducted in Marathi. The event will be presided by Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray, Mayor Shraddha Jadhav and other prominent Shiv Sena leaders.

Aamir's linguistic skills will thus be put to the test before an entire Marathi audience.

And the actor is not the least bit worried. He has been polishing his Marathi skills with the help of Suhas Limaye for the past several months.

Rahul Shewale, Sena corporator and also the chairman of the standing committee of the BMC, confirmed that the entire event would be conducted in Marathi.

"The event is going to be in Marathi, and everyone from the guests to the BMC officials would be speaking only in Marathi, " he said.

"We are getting Aamir Khan and Madhuri Dixit for the virtual education inauguration. Dixit has been confirmed and even Aamir is almost in, "he added.

All praise

Saamna, the Sena party mouthpiece, was all praise for the actor for taking this initiative. A party functionary said, "Khan has been associated with education via his films and has a better connect with the kids compared to other celebrities. He was also learning Marathi and hence we thought of inviting him for the event."

Pilot Project

In January, the BMC had launched the virtual education project in two of its schools. The teacher, based in a studio in Andheri, could teach all the students in the BMC schools. However, the January project was only for a month. Now, it would be implemented in 80 schools across the city from July 26. The BMC will be spending Rs 15 crore on the project over five years.
