The actor shoots a promo for his upcoming film 'My Friend Pinto'

Prateik may be three-films old, but the son of Raj Babbar and the late Smita Patil does seem a little too confident of his film lineage.

At a recent promo shoot of his upcoming My Friend Pinto, the actor took charge behind the scenes despite a promo director being present. He confirms, "I love everything about movie making. So why not this?"

Apparently, this is not the first time the young actor has provided his inputs on location. During the shoot of all his films, he has always contributed ideas on how a particular scene or song should be shot.

Adds a source, "He has not technically assisted any director, but he is very keen on learning how things work behind the camera."

Under mentorship of...

Luckily for him, working with the film's producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali would have been an added advantage, considering the filmmaker is famous for including his cast in every little aspect of filming.

Says the source, "For Bhansali, a lot of them are like his students, so he makes sure he imparts as much knowledge to them as possible. He has always been very impressed with Prateik.

Well, though Prateik's last film Aarakshan did not do much for him, he did receive enough praise for being Mumbai's stand-alone dhobi with six packs in Kiran Rao's Dhobi Ghat.

So we guess trying his hand at direction will definitely not be a complete washout.
