Punjabi actor and comedian Gurpreet Ghuggi feels the Punjab film industry lacks proper knowledge of cinema and also falls short in terms of talent.

"The Punjabi industry lacks a lot in terms of good production houses and actors, " Ghuggi told in an interview.

"Actors who are talented try to take a jump and start their career from Bollywood. But when they don't get good enough recognition, they come back to other options, " he added.

"Changes are required as far as scripts are concerned. People need to open up and experiment in story lines. But we don't have good script writers, producers or directors. The Punjabi industry lacks cinema knowledge and professionalism. It is the saddest part, " Ghuggi said.

He said the Punjabi industry has comedians but not great actors.

The 40-year-old made his debut in the Punjabi industry with "Jee Aayan Nu" (2002). Later he featured in a string of films like "Dil Apna Punjabi" (2006), Bollywood's "Namastey London" (2007) and "Singh Is Kinng" (2008).

He says he is committed to his roots and will launch his own production house soon.

"Punjabi cinema is at a stage where it is looking forward to getting developed. We are hoping for the best. My commitments are for Punjabi films - I want to work for the industry to uplift it, " said the actor, last seen in "Speedy Singhs".

"Very shortly I am going to launch my own production house and will focus on making two Punjabi films a year. I want to make out-and-out comedy movies, " he said.

After making his debut in the international project "Speedy Singhs", Ghuggi feels Bollywood needs to learn certain things from Hollywood.

"Definitely Bollywood needs to learn from Hollywood - in terms of discipline... In Hollywood, everybody is very punctual, very focussed and very accurate. It is very professional, " he said.

About his upcoming projects, Ghuggi said: "I am working on three Hindi films -- 'Joker' with Akshay Kumar, 'Haule Haule Ho Jayega Pyaar' and 'Na Jaane Kab Se' -- and have two Punjabi films in the kitty."
