B-town actor Vidya Balan said her upcoming film 'The Dirty Picture' is not completely based on the life of Silk Smitha but rather it is about a dancing star.

Addressing a press conference in Kolkata on Thursday, Vidya said, "The heroine's name is Silk, but it is not based on Silk Smith's life. The Dirty Picture is about a dancing star from 80s. I wore 100 costumes in the film and you will get the flavours of 80s in the film."

She was in the city on Thursday to launch 'Ivory Furniture & Accessories' from the house of Irony, which is specialized in wrought iron furniture.

"When I come to Kolkata, it feels like home...everyone is so warm and loving," said Vidya.

She said: "I want to work in Bengali movie but Ritu da (Rituparno Ghosh, filmmaker) is not calling me."

The actor said she came to the City of Joy to promote her film 'The Dirty Picture' as Kolkata is 'lucky' for her.

"Kolkata is always lucky for me," she said.

Sougata Roy, Union Minister of State, Urban Development, was also present at the event.

The upcoming film The Dirty Picture, directed by Milan Luthria, also features Naseeruddin Shah, Tusshar Kapoor and Emraan Hashmi.

The film will hit the theatres on Dec 2.
