India's tennis sensation Sania Mirza was given police protection Thursday after autograph seekers created
disturbances outside her house in the posh Banjara Hills neighbourhood of the city.
Two policemen were deployed at the house after her parents sought security for her.
Her father Imran Mirza said autograph hunters created disturbances Wednesday night, forcing them to
approach Hyderabad Police Commissioner V. Dinesh Reddy.
"The autograph hunters are constantly after her," Imran said.
Sania, who is undergoing treatment for an ankle injury, is taking rest at home.
The 18-year-old, who became the first Indian to win a WTA title Saturday, has opted out of the Qatar Open
beginning Feb 21, due to the injury. She was given a wild card for the event.
