Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi stepped out for a party with her freshly shaved two-year-old daughter Krishna last Saturday.

The 41-year-old was simply observing the ritual called Mundan where a child is freshly shaven to signify freedom from the past and moving into the future.

The TV presenter carried her mini-me while strolling through New York's Soho neighbourhood with friends. Wearing a traditional bindi on her forehead, little Krishna and her mother wore matching sunglasses.

The smiley child topped her T-shirt with a red circus-ringmaster-style jacket, blue jean skirt, black tights, and tiny motorcycle boots. Padma paired her black military-style jacket with shiny red boots, a striped shirt, and blue jeans.

The single mom even stopped at one point to feed her baby girl a tasty frozen treat on top of a newsstand. In a recent interview with iVillage, Padma said that her daughter gets her ‘crazy curls' from her grandmother Vijaya.

"I see a lot of my mother in her. She's very fair-skinned, so I see a white version of my mom," the Daily Mail quoted Lakshmi as telling iVillage. "Physically she has that kind of crazy curly hair like my mom. And, she just looks like my mom -- especially when she wakes up in the morning," she added.
