Kunal Kapoor has got rid of his trademark beard for his role in 'Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana' and says that he is open to don even an unglamorous look for a film

'The director told me he wanted to cut my hair and beard, which I had... He wanted to try something new. There is a whole new look in the film, ' said Kunal. 'For me, the character is the most important. Whatever the script needs, we should do that.

We should not think that just because a village setting or an NRI setting does well, we should take it up. Whatever the script needs should be done. I feel that this is the only way to make the film honestly and successfully, ' he added.

Seen in different roles in 'Rang De Basanti', 'Don 2' and 'Laaga Chunari Mein Daag', the actor will be seen as a US-returned guy who hunts for his grandfather's secret chicken recipe.

Produced by Anurag Kashyap and directed by Sameer Sharma, the food film sees Kunal teaming up with Huma Qureshi. It is coming out Nov 2. The story revolves around a Punjabi family which is trying to find the recipe of a special dish called 'Chicken Khurana'.

Omi Khurana, protagonist of the film, who has been in the US, returns to look for the recipe. Only his grandfather knows the recipe but he has gone senile now. Coming from a Punjabi family himself, Kunal says that 'if you have been brought up in a Punjabi family, you automatically like to eat'.

'I have a lot of relatives in Amritsar, so whenever I go there, I eat and the taste is so different, ' he said. Kashyap has devised an innovative promotional strategy for 'Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana'. The team will be visiting different cities and will award the best chicken recipes.

'It (promotion) is unique as the concept of the film is unique. The film revolves around food and this uniqueness of the film translates into the uniqueness of the marketing as well, ' Kunal said. Response to the promos of 'Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana' has surpassed Kunal's expectations. 'People are excited about watching the film and this is good for us. So many big directors have been calling us, ' he said.
