Writer-lyricist Gulzar, who had penned the title song for animated series "The Jungle Book", believes that children have been ignored by filmmakers.

"It has been a long time since Mowgli that I got a chance to write for kids. I love it and I believe that there should have been more such chances. This long gap proves that we have ignored this generation," the 78-year-old said here Thursday at the launch of 3D animated children's show "Motu, Patlu".

Maya Digital Studios bring alive the adorable Lotpot comic characters Motu and Patlu for Viacom18's Nickelodeon.

Gulzar has written the lyrics for the title song, while Sukhwinder Singh has lent his voice to the track. Sandesh Shandilya has composed music for the entire series.

The show premiers Oct 16.

The veteran writer believes that writing for adults is easy, but tough for kids.

"My IQ fits in really well with the kids but it is not easy. For adults you can write your own language, whoever understands it fine, if not then that is also fine. But while writing for kids, we have to change with their age group," Gulzar said.

"Five-year-olds' language will be different, nine-year-olds' will be different and different for 26-year-olds who still are kids," he added.

Gulzar has done the lyrics for Yash Chopra's "Jab Tak Hai Jaan" and one song "Challa" is already out.
