Actor Anil Kapoor is all for women's empowerment and believes it is important for a nation's development.

"Empowerment of the women is the most important thing because they are the creators. If you empower women, if you make them powerful, you encourage them, it is great for the nation.

There is no rocket science in that, it has been there for centuries, " the 52-year-old said at a concert organised here Wednesday to celebrate the first international day of the girl child.

The United Nations has declared Oct 11, 2012 as the world's first International Day of the Girl Child.
