It has been quite a few busy days at the box office. As many as seven films released last weekend and the result has proved to be disastrous for all of them

Too many cooks spoiled the broth? Aiyyaa, Chittagong, Bhoot Returns and Makkhi, the prominent among the seven have all failed to impress at the box office. As a result the collections of OMG and English Vinglish are much better in its third and second weekend respectively. The other three films In the Name of Tai, Login and Prem Mayee have proved to be complete disasters.

The collections in its first weekend for Aiyyaa are Rs 4. 52 crore (Friday - Rs 1.41 cr, Saturday - Rs 1.60 cr and Sunday Rs 1.5 cr), Bhoot Returns are Rs 3.26 crore (Rs 1.16 cr, Rs 1cr, Rs 1.1cr) and Makkhi are Rs 2.7 crore (Rs 54 lakh, Rs 63 lakh and Rs 90 lakh).

While Chittagong collections are nothing to be written about, on the other hand, English Vinglish collected about Rs 19.7 crore in its first week and Rs 6.34 crore in its second weekend (Friday Rs 1,25 cr, Saturday - Rs 2.25 cr, and Sunday Rs 2.80 cr).

OMG in two weeks has collected around Rs 59.46 crore and in its third weekend has collected around Rs 8.5 crore which makes it a surprise blockbuster.

Girish Wankhede, spokesperson of a multiplex says, `None of the films have been up to the mark. English Vinglish is doing very good and so is OMG. We all are now excited about Student of the Year.`

Amod Mehra, trade analyst says, `This is the worst period to release films and then there are so many. There are exams, Shraadh and now Navratri. Except OMG, no other film has managed to bring a smile on the faces of exhibitors.`

Trade expert Atul Mohan states, `This was the most crowded week in recent times. Makkhi was okay being a dubbed film but collections have to come in on weekdays as well. There is no word of mouth also for any film, so the chances of any film sustaining looks bleak.`
