Actor-producer Anupam Kher's next production after BARIWALI, is a film titled, MAINE GANDHI KO
NAHIN MARA.
The film is being directed by National award-winning Assamese filmmaker, Jahnu
Barua, and is being shot from a start-to-finish schedule from April 3 to May 23, 2005.
The film is said to revolve around the India after Gandhi and the failure of citizens to retain his legacy in
contemporary India. It is not known whether the film also looks into the reasons that led to the
assassination of Gandhi by Nathuram Godse, since Kher has been maintaining a discreet silence over the
film's subject.. Kher is said to have taken the decision of producing the film after the N.F.D.C. backed out
of it.
He had agreed to play the main role in the N.F.D.C. produced film when director Barua had
approached him with the role in mind.
According to reports, Kher has specially shaved off his
moustache for the role in the film. In addition to Anupam Kher, the film stars Urmila Matondkar, who had
worked with the former in OM JAI JAGDISH, Pravin Dabbas, Rajat Kapur, Boman Irani, Anu Kapoor, Dolly
Thakore and Vishwas Pandya.
The screenplay and dialogue for the has been written by Sanjay
Chauhan.
