Southern actress Malavika, who is currently busy playing a mother to her two children, says she wants to make a comeback in a female-oriented film with a social message, if she ever finds the time -- something akin to Sridevi-starrer "English Vinglish".

"I don't think I will return to acting in the near future as my children need my attention at all times. Moreover, shooting these days means travelling to outdoor locations, which I'm not comfortable with because I can't leave my children with someone else. But, if I ever want to make a comeback, I would like to be part of a socially responsible female-oriented film, " Malavika told.

Summing it up, she said, she would've loved to be part of the "English Vinglish", which marked Sridevi's foray into filmdom after 15 years.

A commerce graduate, Malavika started her career as a model in TV commercials and bagged her first acting assignment opposite Tamil actor Ajith Kumar in the 1999 romantic movie "Unnai Thedi".

"Soon after college, I had my portfolio made and did a few advertisements. I was spotted by actor-turned-politician Kushboo, who auditioned and cast me in her husband's (Sundar C.) film", she added.

Since her debut, the 33-year-old has acted in several Tamil, and a few Telugu and Malayalam films in her career spanning 10 years. She also acted in 2004 Hindi horror-thriller "C U at 9".

A passionate actress, Malavika says production or direction is not her cup of tea.

"I'll never produce or direct a movie because I'm not cut out for that. My passion since childhood has been acting and I love being in front of the camera, not behind it.

"I don't mind being part of a TV serial provided it's interesting and has a long lasting impact on the audience. However, I prefer short serials and not the long, drawn ones, which tend to get boring after some time, " she said.

The actress, also known for her super hit item numbers like "Valameenu", says the dancer in her is still active.

"Some of my songs were widely popular and I don't mind doing item numbers provided they're not vulgar and are interesting with good lyrics", she said.

What do you think is the most important skill for an actress?

"An actress should be very emotive about her character. She needs to get into the skin of the character if she wants to make a lasting impact on the audience."

Currently based in Mumbai with her industrialist husband, and her son and daughter, Malavika delights in domesticity. If there is free time, she spends it reading books and watching movies.
