Richa Chadha had a bittersweet birthday yesterday on the sets of her upcoming film with Sanjay Leela Bhansali

The rest of the cast and crew had planned a surprise birthday cake for the actress but before they could present it to her, Richa fell down and hurt herself.

A source from the sets says, `Richa was shooting alone on the set till midnight and Bhansali gave her some intense scenes to perform. The entire crew pretended to forget her birthday and she too did not mention about it.

But before she could wrap up her portions, she hurt herself badly.` The crew immediately rushed to her aid and took her to another room. And this was when they brought in her cake. Despite being in excruciating pain, the crew's gesture impressed Richa.

The actress says, `They called a doctor on the set and he gave me some medicine and asked me to take rest. When I went to another room, I realised that they had planned a big cake for my birthday.`

Richa refused to take the day off, as she believes that birthdays are meant to be celebrated by doing what one does best! Amen to that.
