The wait is over. The curiosity that had gripped the nation has been settled. Kaanchi, Subhash Ghai's musical-thriller magnum opus has found a face. Mishti, the 21 year old, light-eyed girl from Kolkata will play the character of Kaanchi.

After a long and arduous audition period that saw over 240 girls vying for the opportunity , Subhash Ghai found his Kaanchi in Mishti.

Paired alongside Kartik Tiwari, the lead from Kumar Mangat's soon to-be-released Aakash Vani, Subhash Ghai has once again invested his faith in new and upcoming talent, giving them the shot at fame that they deserve. Kaanchi is set to go on the floors by February 18th.

Kaanchi is the story of a an innocent girl from Uttarkhand whose father, an ex-army man, gets shot. This event turns her life upside down and after a certain point, she refuses to be the victim, stand up to fight her way out and emerges as a winner. Ismail Darbar & Salim Suleman have contributed to the tunes of the film.
