Shahana Goswami features in Deepa Mehta's film based on Salman Rushdie's book, Midnight's Children.

The author was actively involved in the making of the film and interacted with the actress through the workshops. When the first cut of the movie was shown to him, he was impressed by Shahana's interpretation of his character.

As a token of his appreciation, he gifted her a signed copy of the book that read: Thank you for being Aamna (the name of Shahana's character in the film).
