The government Tuesday prohibited the transmission of four channels found telecasting objectionable programmes.
In a statement, the information and broadcasting ministry said some cable operators had been found airing obscene content through four channels -- "BlueKiss", "BlueKiss
Express", BlueKiss Promo" and "TBL-XXX".
"These are against good taste or decency and likely to adversely affect public morality," said the ministry order, issued under the Cable Television Networks (Regulation)
Act, 1995.
The order prohibiting the transmission or re-transmission of these television channels was forwarded to the Indian Broadcasting Foundation (IBF) and all cable operators and
multi-service operators.
The order was also sent to all state chief secretaries, director-generals of police of all states and union territories and the district magistrates of all districts of states and
union territories.
