Veteran actor Paresh Rawal turned 63 years on Thursday. He made his debut in the Bollywood with the 1984 film 'Holi'.

Rawal played supporting and villain roles throughout the 1980's and 1990's.

In 1994, he won the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performances in the films 'Woh Chokri' and 'Sir'. For the latter, he also received his first Filmfare Award for Best Comedian.

This was followed by Ketan Mehta's 'Sardar', which saw him playing the lead role of freedom fighter Vallabhbhai Patel, a role that got him national and international acclaim.

The actor followed it with the film 'Tamanna' (1996), in which he played the role of a eunuch, who raises an orphaned girl, played by Pooja Bhatt.

Since 2000, Rawal has started playing comic roles and has been thoroughly successful in making people laugh.

Rawal's biggest hits were comedy flicks 'Hera Pheri' and 'Phir Hera Pheri', where he played the character 'Baburao Ganpatrao Apte'.

He bagged the Filmfare Best Comedian Award and the IIFA Best Comedian Award for his performance in 'Hera Pheri'.

Some of his successful films include 'Hulchul', 'Garam Masala', 'Malamaal Weekly', '36 China Town', 'Chup Chup Ke', 'Golmaal: Fun Unlimited', 'Bhagam Bhag', 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa', 'Welcome', and 'OMG: Oh My God!' among others.
