Bollywood celebrities condoled the death of Ashok Chopra, and said to his bereaved actress-daughter Priyanka Chopra "be strong".

Ashok Chopra, who was hospitalised at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital here two weeks ago, passed away Monday afternoon after battling cancer.

A doctor himself, Chopra had retired from the Indian Army in 1997 as a lieutenant colonel. He is survived by his wife Madhu, also a former army doctor, daughter Priyanka and son Siddharth.
