Has Huma turned into a star too soon?

Huma Qureshi has been on a roll lately. Her latest film is earning good reviews, and the lady's performance has also been appreciated.

In fact, by the end of 2013, she'll already be six-films-old in the industry. That's quite a number films in a relatively short period of time. Describing her experience so far in the industry as terrific, she confesses to CS that since June 22 of last year (the release date of her debut film), she hasn't had a single holiday. Excerpts from an interview.

The changing times
People who say that I've done many films in a short period of time don't know how and who I was before I got my first film. I've had my struggling days with no work whatsoever.

In any case, I don't belong to a filmi background so for someone who came from Delhi and eventually made herself at home in Mumbai, I've done pretty well.

But even today, my criteria for a film remain the same: the script has to be challenging, people should be engaging and I should be learning something new on the sets every single day.

The pros and cons
As a film actress, I get to travel a lot and play different characters. I can pretend to be somebody I'm not in front of the camera. Also, I get to meet interesting people from around the world. On the downside, invasion of privacy can be bothersome at times.

Sometimes you don't get to sleep well due to tight schedule and there are so many deadlines followed by media scrutiny. These factors can create unease and pressure. But it's all worth it.

With acting geniuses
It was only after the shooting of Gangs of Wasseypur ended that I came to know who the real Nawazuddin (Siddiqui) is. Before that happened, he was completely in his character. It's amazing to come across such actors who are at their finest. I'm also working with stalwarts like Naseer saab, Madhuriji (Dixit) and Arshad Warsi in my upcoming films. They are simply brilliant.

No makeup please
I went without makeup in Shlok Sharma's short film. My director was anxious if I would be comfortable without makeup but I told him it was not an issue. I don't have a problem as long as I agree with a director's vision.
