The Gujarat CM Narendra Modi could be the face of a biopic based on the Swami Vivekananda

He may be embroiled in a lot of political controversy at the moment, but Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi seems to have bagged a big one this time. Believe it or not, the makers of an upcoming biopic on Swami Vivekananda have roped in the politician to kickstart the film's promotional campaign along with gracing a special screening of it as well.

To mark the saint's 150th birth anniversary this year, Kolkata-based debutant director Utpal Sinha has portrayed the transition of a young Narendra Nath Datta to a world-renowned personality. Modi, has apparently promised to sit for a screening of the film on August 6.

Says a source, `Modi has often spoken about the influence of Swami Vivekananda and his ideologies on his life. He has also been associated with the Ramakrishna Mission in many ways. While he participates in various yuva sammelans and yatras organised by the missionaries, his association with the film does not come as a surprise.`

Sinha explains why he chose the controversial politico to unveil his film, `Vivekananda's influence in Modi's life can be clearly seen through his communications. He has also invited his entire team to see the film. We couldn't have asked for a better start.`
