The growth of the Punjabi film industry makes "Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!" fame Manjot Singh glad. He is also happy with the opportunities Sikh boys are getting in Indian filmdom.

The 21-year-old has acted in a Punjabi movie titled "Pure Punjabi", and he says he will work in more such projects if the roles are good.

"I am very happy that the Punjabi film industry is growing so much. If I am offered a good role there, I will definitely do it," Manjot told.

The budding actor, recently seen in "Fukrey", is proud of himself and the Sikh boys who are getting substantial roles in tinsel town.

"I'm very thankful to the industry for what I have got and glad that now Sikh people are getting a lot of chance. Initially, they were participating in a lot of comedy roles. Now they are getting good lengthy characters and good chances," said the actor, who grew up in the Preet Vihar locality of east Delhi.

After playing light, energetic and fun characters, Manjot is now ready to experiment with new roles.

"Everyone experiments with their work and I am glad that I am experimenting at this stage, so that I know how people will accept me in future," he said.

Manjot's father Paramjot Singh, who has done small roles in movies like "Patiala House" and "Vicky Donor", will also be his reel life father in the Hindi movie "The Zero Line". The movie, in which Manjot will play an intense role, will mark his debut as a solo actor in Bollywood.

Talking about working with his father, he said: "He shouts at me at home and even in the movie, he was supposed to do the same in most of the scenes. So it was very easy for us to shoot that."

Based on Indo-Pak relations, "The Zero Line" is directed by Gagan Puri and produced by Niraj Gadge.
