Actor Shahid Kapoor laments that Bollywood applies the yardstick of film's success at box office results to consider one as a good actor.

Shahid, who is striving for a big hit, has so far managed to deliver only three--'Ishq Vishk' (2003), 'Vivah' (2006), 'Jab We Met' (2007)--in his career of 20 films spanning ten years.

The actor is eagerly awaiting release of Prabhudeva's potboiler 'R...Rajkumar' releasing this Friday. "I agree when others say I am underrated as an actor... When you give super-hit films then only you are considered as a good actor.

At least that is how it is there in our industry. I think you need to be successful to be appreciated," Shahid told PTI. Shahid said he wanted to be successful and expressed that everyone should succeed.

"Eventually, the most important thing is success. I want to achieve a lot of success. It doesn't feel good when your film doesn't do well and yet you are appreciated... everybody should succeed," the 32-year-old said. Shahid said he was fortunate that people always reposed faith in him and he got love and appreciation from the audience. Besides, 'R...Rajkumar', Shahid has under his belt Vishal Bharadwaj's 'Haider', and is pinning hopes on them.

"I want lot of luck and want all my films to be really super hits. I don't want to hear that the film is not good but you did a good job. I am tired of hearing that. I am hoping for little luck so that my films do really well.

Now I am at that stage where I want a little luck... want a super-hit film... the desire is there," he said. When asked why his films are not clicking at box office, Shahid replied, "I don't know if my 'saade saati' (bad phase according to horoscope) is going on. I feel there is a phase when you go through bad luck... There are so many factors, just cannot pinpoint one".

Shahid's last 'Phata Poster Nikla Hero' did not do that well as expected. "I think people felt that the second half (of the film) turned serious. They really liked and enjoyed the humour in the first half (of the film). In the second half the film became serious though people were looking for humour... It was a major issue," he said. On 'R...Rajkumar', Shahid said, "I love action genre.

Every guy dreams of beating up several men in one go. Prabhudeva has always presented action in his films in a stylised manner. He does not have people and bikes flying or super heroes. He has normal action in his films but shoots in a stylised manner, larger than life way and it looks good." Shahid said it was difficult for any actor to pull along and perform well in all spheres of action, romance, dance, comedy etc.

"You are tested at every level," he added. However, 'R..Rajkumar' was physically demanding for Shahid, considering the kind of action scenes he had to put in and also the dance numbers. Shahid, known for his dancing skills, said his co-star Sonakshi Sinha picked up the dance moves faster than him.

"The first thing I noticed in her is that she picks up the steps fast and this has never happened to me as heroines opposite me usually take time to pick up steps. But she did. She is a good dancer. She remembered all the steps. She is one of the few heroines who is a heroine in a way. She has all qualities that you need in a heroine," Shahid added.
