Moon Moon Sen just recovering from her legendary mother Suchitra Sen's demise was in for a surprise when she read her name as Trinamool Congress Candidate for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Says a source close to the actress, `Though she adores and respects Mamta Bannerjee, Moon Moon Sen had no idea this was coming. She woke on Wednesday like everyone else to the news that she was contesting the elections. And now Moon Moon has to do her full homework to get into politics.`

According to sources close to the actress, the electoral ticket comes as a gesture of Mamta Bannerjee's respect for Moon Moon's mother.


Still trying to gather her thoughts together about the new development Moon Moon says, `I've been working with the underprivileged , with people less fortunate than me. But this is an entirely different challenge.I've to be sure that I'm fully prepared to face it. This won't be a film script and the political platform is not a film set. I've lots to learn.`

The actress is realistic enough to realize her glamorous image would initially help her get crowds to gather. `But after that I am on my own.`
