Actor-turned-politician Raj Babbar has decided to come to the rescue of the Mumbai bar girls, badly hit by the closure of dance bars, by offering them alternative
employment opportunities as junior artists.
Babbar recently came up with the suggestion and subsequently took it up with the leaders of the junior artistes association. However, association members have decided to
put up a strong resistance against any such move.
Junior artistes, who are already having a tough time finding work, feel that the presence of the more glamorous bargirls in their association, will further affect their chances.
Babbar is optimistic that his suggestion will come through. "The reluctance of the association members is natural under the circumstances and I completely identify with
their problems, but there's a place for everyone in the industry."
