Sources say that Ekta Kapoor will revive the hit show, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi

If sources are to be believed, Ekta Kapoor's longest running TV soap, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu, will soon return to the small screen. Moreover, it will be aired on the same channel. It is being said that Ekta is keen to have Smriti Irani star in this edition of the show. An industry source says, `Ekta wants Smriti to play the role of Baa this time. Auditions for the remaining cast will soon begin at the Balaji office.` When contacted, Ekta sent us a one-word text message that read, `Hmm.`

It may be pointed out that Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi was a hugely popular TV show. It told the story of a Gujarati joint family, the Viranis. While Smriti played the daughter-in-law, Tulsi, the role of Baa was essayed by Sudha Shivpuri.

The show went on air in July 3, 2000 and ruled TRPs for eight years before bidding adieu in November 2008.
