When the National Film awards were announced, filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra didn't attend any calls. Apparently, he was busy in a recording studio.

Though his film Bhaag Milkha Bhaag bagged two awards (for Best Popular Film and Best Choreography for the song Maston Ka Jhund), it didn't clinch the Best Director and Best Actor award, which was perhaps what he was hoping for.
