From starry tantrums and unruly behaviour to co-star enmity, delayed shows and scenes being chopped out, the TV industry is turning out to be the hotbed of contention. We bring you hot gossip straight from the sets of some popular shows

If Bollywood has its share of controversies, the television industry is not far behind either. Be it stars upset over not getting awards, rude crewmembers or enmity between reality show rivals, TV celebs are clearly whipping up a storm in the small screen world. We bring you the latest wrangles from telly land...

Jennifer Winget, who plays Kumud in Saraswatichandra, recently walked out of an awards function. Apparently, she was disappointed that she hadn't won an award.

Jennifer walks out
Jennifer Winget, who plays Kumud in the show Saraswatichandra, recently walked out of an awards function. The actress was nominated in two categories: one for best host along with her husband Karan Singh Grover, and another for best onscreen couple with Saraswatichandra co-star, Gautam Rode. But when the actress didn't get an award in the first category, she walked off in a huff.

The source says, `Jennifer was expecting to win an award and was disappointed when she didn't. She walked out within 45 minutes.` When the nominations for best on-screen couple were announced, all the nominated couples had to put up a small act but since Jennifer was nowhere to be seen, Gautam merely stood next to her cutout. The actress denies the news. `This is false. I had told all the concerned people that I would attend the awards show only for an hour, as I was a little unwell,` she says.

Intimacy issues

Rashmi Desai and Gaurav Chopraa, who play husband and wife in Uttaran, recently shot some romantic scenes, including their first kissing scene.

And while the channel and the production house created a lot of buzz around it, the episode featuring their lovemaking scene didn't have the famed kissing scene. A crewmember says, `If these scenes were to go on air, they'd have created a lot of problems for the show. Also, Rashmi apparently didn't want these scenes to be telecast.` While Gaurav agrees that this was the creative team's decision, producer Pintoo Guha and the channel's spokesperson remained unavailable for comment. Rashmi, meanwhile, says that she has no idea why all the scenes did not go in the final edit.

Of old rivalry
Karanvir Bohra recently shared an article stating that Manish Paul will replace Drashti Dhami in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa's current season.

Not only did he congratulate Manish about this, he even remarked, 'Johri ko heere ki parakh pehechan mein agayi finally (your talent has been recognised finally)'. Ever since, his account has been bombarded with negative comments from Drashti Dhami's fans.

Manish Paul has hosted several TV shows in the past

It may be pointed out that he had competed against Drashti in the previous season. Karanvir says that he has no problems with Drashti and that their fans have been fighting it out. `Drashti and I were laughing about it. But I am glad my fans are standing up for me. Also, I was just happy for Manish, who is an old friend.`

Jaya's show stalled?

Jaya Bachchan may be returning to acting with her maiden television appearance, but it doesn't look like her show will go on air anytime soon.

Allegedly an adaptation of Gujarati author Kajal Oza Vaidya's novel, Yog Viyog, the show was supposed to go on air in September but due to production issues, it was pushed to December. `There have been a lot of problems with the show, right from the casting to the production. The show is getting delayed because of all these problems and now we hear that it has been stalled,` says a source.

Drashti Dhami was abruptly asked to leave the dance reality show due to her apparent lack of hosting skills

The channel's spokesperson remained unavailable for comment.

Off-screen drama
Recently, some crewmembers from the TV show, Sasural Simar Ka, misbehaved with journalists who were visiting the sets. These mediapersons reached Future Studios in Goregaon at around noon and when some of them were looking for a place for their camera equipments, a crewmember asked them to leave the set. `After this altercation, the show's PR team sorted things out and the journalists were allowed inside. But when a crewmember was asked about the sequence being shot, he replied in a very rude fashion. This was followed by a small argument and the mediapersons were once again asked to leave the sets. The PR had to step in once again,` says a journalist who was present that day on the sets.

The channel's spokesperson was unavailable for comment.
