Veteran film and television maker BR Chopra was felicitated with the Lifetime Achievement Awardfor his contribution to Indian Television in the Fifth Indian Telly Awards presented by Gamier Lightat a glittering ceremony held last night at the Chitrakoot grounds. Chopra was behind path breaking television shows such as Mahabharat.

Among the big winners on the night were Indian Idol which walked away witl1he Reality Programme of the year award and also the television programme of the year award. Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin pocketed the daily serial of the year award, while lead actors Apurva Agnihotri and Mona Singh won for best actor and best actress respectively.

Pawan Shankar who played a lawyer in Star One show was gien the award for Best Actor in the TV Critics category while Juhu Kusum Parmar pocketed the same in the female category .

The Balaji top grosses of the past four years Kyuunki SaasBhi Kabhi Bahu Thi bagged the best continuing TV show of the year, while actors Hiten Tejwani and Gauri Pradhan topped in the male and female supporting actor categories for the same show.

Other actors from the same show such Akashdeep Saigal, Chinky Jaisval won the best male actor in a negative role and best child female actor respectively.

Ejaz Khan and Natassha (now called Anita) bagged the best On Screen Couple award for their role in Kavvyanjali while Shabbir Ahluwalia along with Aamna Shariff were declared the Logitech Male and Female TV Style Icons. Rajeev Khandelwal was declared TV personality ofthe year.

Among the other high profile winners wereAmitabh Bachchan who won for Best TV anchor and NDTV anchor Dibang who won for news anchor.Rajesh Roshesh Kumar was judged the best comic actor for his role in Sarabhai vs Sarabhaiwhile Supriya Pathak won for her role in Instant Kichdi in the female comic actor category.
