Akshay Kumar's newfound penchant for editing his films may have got him quite a few adversaries among his co-stars, but his directors don't seem to mind too much. Vikram Bhatt, for instance, has defended Akshay for the actor's decision to edit certain portions in the recently released "Deewane Huey Paagal".

"Akshay is definitely not the kind of person he is made out to be. He will be the last person to tamper with anyone's role in the film. Even in the case of this film, he did not touch any of Shahid's portions in the film. If Shahid's role looked brief in comparison that was the way it was defined from the beginning," Bollywood Trade quoted Bhatt as saying.

"He felt that the climax was being unduly stretched due to those portions and what he said made sense too," said Bhatt.

Bhatt has no regrets about the poor response to the film at the box-office. "The film definitely deserved a better response but I have no regrets. It wasn't my script. I was merely making it for the producer and I made it the way he wanted me to," Bhatt stated.
