Prevention and Women's Health Launch a Running Campaign

The campaign this year is called From Minutes to Miles New Delhi, September 02, 2014: Prevention and Women's Health India launched the second edition of the Running Challenge, From Minutes to Miles. Gul Panag, actor, activist and fitness enthusiast, inaugurated the campaign and pledged her support as the chief motivator to the group of women who enrolled. Also present were a panel of experts: Dr Deepak Chaudhary, director, Sports Injury Centre, Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi; Nisha Varma, Reebok master trainer, Pune; Dr Raju Easwaran, sports physician, New Delhi; certified marathon coach Arun Arora; and Ishi Khosla, nutritionist.


The event, hosted by Fio Cookhouse & Bar, at Epicuria Mall, New Delhi, saw an intimate gathering of 60 women of all ages. This is the second edition of the Prevention-Women's Health running campaign. The aim of the programme is to help women begin running or take running to the next level. Last year, 18 women enrolled, in what was called the Running Challenge: Couch-to-6k. The culmination of the training by the experts is the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon, at which the women will run the Great Delhi Run, the 6k leg of the race, or the 21km course. In 2013, all the members of the group went on to participate ADHM. This year, over 35 women have committed to the programme.
