Superstar Akshay Kumar, whose upcoming production venture 'The Shaukeens' has three NSD graduates -- Anupam Kher, Annu Kapoor and Piyush Mishra -- in the lead, says he could not afford to enrol himself in an acting school during his earlier days.

Akshay, 47, is also making a special appearance in the remake of the 1982 hit film of the same name apart from donning the producer's hat. "The lead in the film are all passed out from National School Of Drama but I am from NANSD which is Non actor National School Of Drama.I had no money to go to any acting school.

There used to be many big acting schools but I couldn't afford those," Akshay said here during the trailer launch of the film.

The 'Entertainment' star revealed that he instead followed a line from a book, which he read on the streets of Coalaba, to become an actor.

"I read the first line of a book 'How To Learn Acting' which said 'If you want to be a good actor, be a good human being'. But I never bought the book and have been following it since then. So, according to me you don't need to be puzzled to become a good actor. After that I have started acting and I am still continuing that," he said.

Directed by Abhishek Sharma, the film stars Lisa Haydon in the female lead. It will hit theatres on November 7.
