CINTAA asks Pakistani singer-turned-actor, Ali Zafar to furnish valid work documents

Pakistani singer-turned-actor, Ali Zafar, who was last seen in Bolly rom-com, Total Siyappa, has been summoned by Cine And Television Artistes Association (CINTAA) to appear before it with all his documents along with visa papers. He has been a member of CINTAA but without valid papers.

Gajendra Chauhan, president of CINTAA, said, "We have asked him to prove that he has the required work permit from the Indian High Commission in Islamabad allowing him to work here as an artiste."

Chauhan said when Zafar initially came to India, he had secured a letter from the High Commission that allowed to work here, provided he paid taxes. "That was valid for a year. He got it extended till 2012," he said, adding that post 2013, he has been coming to India sans necessary papers. "As per our records, he has been coming here on a visitor visa," he said.

Zafar, who is promoting his upcoming film, Kill Dill, said: "My visa and documents specifically say 'commercial performance allowed' - the only category the Indian High Commission grants to Pakistani artistes to work in India based on proper formal invitation letters given by production houses. My office has sent CINTAA all relevant documents."
