Probably Big B wouldn't have thought in his remotest dreams that the ghost of 1984 Sikh riots will return to haunt him, but unfortunately it did. If recent reports revealed by one of the news channels are to be believed then federal court of Los Angeles has issued a summon against the star of the millennium for his alleged involvement in 1984 riots with the charges of instigating violence against the Sikh Community which followed the assassination of then PM Indira Gandhi.

The petition was filed against Big B by Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, Legal Adviser of SFJ, a forum which raises voice for the rights. In his plea Pannun alleged that Bachchan instigated the attacks which followed Mrs Gandhi's assassination by her Sikh bodyguards Satwant Singh and Beant Singh.

In his petition to the court Pannu further stated that Bachchan who was then close to Gandhi family came out of AIIMS in New Delhi on the fateful day of October 1984, and instigated the masses by saying that "Khoon Ka Badla Khoon Se Lenge".

Last year when a Delhi court issued the directions to re investigate the role of Congress leader Jagdish Tytler in 1984 riots case, some of the key witnesses even raised their voice demanding action against Bachchan also for fueling the anti Sikh sentiments. But now as the matter has reached an international forum it looks like Bachchan may face troubles in the days ahead as the ghost of1984 riots has returned to haunt him.

However Bachchan always maintained that he was in no manner involved in this heinous crime of 1984. In a letter sent to Jathedar Gurcharan Singh of the Akal Takht in 2011 Bachchan tried to clear his stance over the whole issue and stated that"I wish to take this opportunity to vehemently and categorically deny these allegations against me which are completely baseless, false and untrue. The Nehru-Gandhi family and our family have old ties from our city of origin, Allahabad. We have been together in each other's hour of grief and joy, but to allege that I was a part of the crowd that incited them to raise anti-Sikh slogans is a preposterous and blatant lie.

Quite contrarily, I have always propagated the soothing of injured feelings and the maintenance of serenity. The unfortunate incidents of the riots of 1984 against the Sikhs shall always remain a blot and a dark phase in the history of our country, a country that prides itself in its secular credentials."

But with this recent development where the court has considered Pannun's petition alleging crime against humanity and has issued a summon against Bachchan on the basis of the that there seems the possibilities that Big be may end up facing some troubles in the days ahead.
