Biopic should be made on Tendulkar, insists Ayushmann

After the success of biopics like 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag' and 'Mary Kom', actor Ayushmann Khurrana said a film should be made on Sachin Tendulkar and he would love to play the batting legend's role.

"I don't resemble any sports person. I have never thought about it, but I would love to play Sachin Tendulkar. I think he is a legend. You have to make a film on him because we never had such a great batsman in the country. More than an Indian icon, he is a global icon, worth emulating," he told PTI here. Asked to name one political leader who can make it into films, Khurrana said Rajvardhan Singh Rathore, minister in the Narendra Modi cabinet, has all the qualities of becoming a good actor.

"Rajvardhan Singh Rathore is a very good looking person. He can be a good actor as he is tall, well-spoken and has gift of the gab. I think he has all the elements of becoming an actor," he said during the launch Smirnoff ICE.

However, Khurrana said he would love Rathore to see as an action hero as he is an ex-army man.

Praising Modi, Khurrana said, "Narendra Modi is a well-dressed person. He is India's rockstar. He has been travelling across the world and bringing lot of investors into India. People all over the world love him and I think he is very proactive in whatever he does."

Asked about the controversy over the 'Kiss Of Love' protest, to be organised in Bengaluru against moral policing, he said, "It all depends on you as a person - whether he is an introvert or an extrovert. I am not really comfortable with the public display of affection. If other people are comfortable let them be."

The actor, who has starred in films like 'Vicky Donor', 'Nautanki Saala!', said he sees himself more an actor-singer rather than singer-actor as Kundan Lal Saigal and Kishore Kumar were.

"K L Saigal and Kishore Kumar are legends. I think these two are more of singer-actors. I am more of an actor-singer. I am not a classically-trained singer. I have a

textured voice, and the best part is that I have a voice of my own. I don't copy anyone. Anybody can recognise my voice," he said.

Khurrana said he was very excited about his upcoming releases - 'Hawaizaada' and 'Dum Laga Ke Haisha'- both period films.

Asked which role he wants to play in near future, he said "I would love to do an action film because nobody expects me to do it, right now. I think that is the agenda as of now," he said.
