Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor and filmmaker Imtiaz Ali today released lyricist friend Irshad Kamil's book of poems 'Ek Maheena Nazmon Ka' here.

Published by Vani Prakashan, the book is a compilation of 31 poems by the 43-year-old lyricist, one for every day of the month.

Before every poem, there is a window of thought that transports the reader in the realms of romance and beauty.

"I am deeply touched by the generous support that I have got from my friends in the industry for the launch of this book," the 43-year-old lyricist said.

Earlier this week, the book was launched in Mumbai by Farah Khan, Deepti Naval, Sonam Kapoor and Irrfan Khan.

Irshad said writing the book was more liberating than penning lyrics for a movie song as here he could express his own thoughts.

"When you are writing for a film you are under pressure and while good work can blossom under pressure, sometimes you need to write for yourself and just let the words flow in their own sweet time.

"This book is a collection of those freewheeling thoughts and ideas captured in these 31 nazms. Being amid the contemporary times, I have tried to travel the lanes of love in the light of today's reality," he said.

Imtiaz and Ranbir read out a poem each from the book.

Irshad is a regular in Imtiaz's films, starting from his debut 'Socha Na Tha', 'Rockstar', starring Ranbir, to the 2014 hit 'Highway'.

The trio have again collaborated for the upcoming film 'Tamasha'.

While praising the poet, Imtiaz said, "Irshad's lyrics come at a point in my films, when I know dialogues will not be enough to describe the feelings. We have a deep association and now while making a film, I know where to leave spaces, which will be filled by Irshad's words." Ranbir, 32, has separately worked with him in 'Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani' and 'Anjaana Anjaani'.

The actor, who has read the book, said he loves the simplicity of expression in Irshad's words.

"He conveys even the deepest of emotions in such a simple manner, which is easy to understand. That's his speciality. He is miles ahead, when it comes to describing romance. I have a lot to learn from him," he said.
