Well, Yash Raj Films have not been able to impress the audience for a long time. However, after years I suppose they have finally hit the bull eye. This film though, being a simple love story, does have its own mesmerizing charm! You might feel that is somewhat like 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi' to some extend, but this film is far different and beautiful, with refreshing story, perfect location, bang on acting and a magnificent direction. Following the YRF tradition the film is based in a small town (Haridwar). Where the 'Fat Emily' has blossomed and is married to a goosey boy, who had always wished to marry a perfect ten.

Dum Laga Ke Haisha, is a perfect blend of romance, humour and entertainment. The story revolves around Prem (Ayushmann) and Sandhaya (Bhumi). Where on one hand Sandhaya is a well educated B.ed , on the other hand Prem is a Matric fail.

Bhumi is an overweight, cute and innocent girl, who dreams to become a teacher and a wife. Prem, a Kumar Sanu fan , wishes for a perfect looking girl. Prem works at a cassette store owned by his father (Sanjay Mishra) who thinks his son is good for nothing.

Howbeit, as destined Prem gets married to the Big Sandhaya, due to his parents agreement years ago. Though, Prem is embarrassed to walk out with his wife or even introduce her to his friend, Prem reluctantly carries the burden of his married life each day.

Sadhaya on the other hand innocently continues to try and woo her husband, sadly all here attempts turn futile. Regardless of Sandhaya's endeavors nothing works, at last she is left with only one option i.e of separation.

Would Sandhaya find true love or just compromise with the situation and move one? This is just the beginning! The film is about the Prem and Sandhaya, two individuals with completely contrary desires, How they and their family deal the turmoils and the couple find the true meaning of 'Love.'

Sharat Katariya is truly talented, just like his directorial debut film Bheja Fry, he has kept the comic element intact. How emotional or serious the situation might be, there is a pinch of laughter integrated in each scene.

Also applaud to the director to feature such an odd pair, of extra large Sandhaya and timid Prem, normally the couple might stand out and might not appeal, but when you look at them on screen they seem picture perfect. As he has focused on the couples compatibility and understanding.

Director has succeeded in conveying his message, that outer beauty is superficial and it might not last long, however, the connection, love, compatibility and understanding are the strong pillars that will uphold your marriage forever.

He has tried to bring out the social issue, but in a very quirky and light hearted manner. The screenplay of the film is perfect and hats off to the designer who kept a check on all the minutest of details of the film. The cassettes, the tape recorder, the scooter, to the clothing! everything takes you back in the good old days.

The young talented director has also written the dialogues of the film, which act as a catalyst in the film. The essence of the culture and the lingo has been captivated beautifully and the pinch of humour has enhanced the film further.

The background score take us back into the 90's, not to miss out on Kumar Sanu, the king of 90's, his voice or his guest appearance in the end, adds to the nineteen's effect. Anu Malik has done full justice to the music of the film, thumbs up for that, also the music, the melody of the film would makes you nostalgic.

Apparently, with Dum Laga Ke Haisha, Ayshmann is back! We forgive him for his epic failure 'Hawaizaada'. He has personified the character of Prem beautifully. In other words he has lived Prem beautifully.

Bhumi Pedneker, what a discovery! her innocents, her blushing in front of her in- laws, her carefree dance at the wedding or her luring her husband. It seems acting comes naturally to her. YRF have truly discovered a diamond.

The supporting cast Sanjay Mishra the father who loves beating up his son, Alka Amin, the over dramatic mother of the groom, Sheeba Chaddha, the grooms aunt (Bua) who is very opinionated , Seema Pahwa, mother of the bride, who just wants her daughter to get settled. Their is no question about their acting capability! This talented cast has truly added stars to the film. Not to forget their natural but hilarious dialogue delivery.

I can not end this review without applauding the casting director Shanoo Sharma for the exemplary cast!

Alas, The film is a complete package of humour, drama, emotion and romance. A film everyone can go out and enjoy with their family this weekend! My verdict 3.5.
