Anushka levels serious allegations against Censor

Anushka Sharma and Vikramaditya Motwane, the co-producers of 'NH10', whose release date got pushed by a week due to censor board's objection to certain scenes in the film, feel such restrictions curtail the creativity and vision of filmmakers.

The thriller is finally set to hit theatres this Friday.

Anushka, 26, who is making her production debut with the film, about a road trip gone wrong, said such limitations tend to stunt the growth an original idea.

"The problem is that when you start working with so many parameters and restrictions, it is actually killing the scope of coming out with original ideas because you are already working within boundaries," Anushka told reporters here today.

The actress said that a proper rating system should be introduced so that the audience can enjoy the movies they want to watch instead of cutting stuff out of movies.

"I think it would be nice to have a rating system and not just cut things out of films. It should be left to the audience to decide what they want to watch. People have the option to walk out of the halls. I wish that kind of responsibility was given to us," she said.

Motwane, who has directed films like 'Udaan' and 'Lootera', said it is disappointing when they are forced to chop off scenes from their films in which so much hard work has gone.

"I also feel that rating system is important. It is always bad when you make something and it does not reach to the audience. It is disappointing when your vision is curbed.

Unfortunately, that is the scenario. The film is still great with the cuts. Nothing much has changed," Motwane said.

He said that it is high time the government and politicians stop treating the audience as kids and give them the right of choice.

"Our audience is far more intelligent than what we think.

I think our government and politicians should stop treating us like children. I do think they are trying to work towards that but let's see what happens," he said.

'NH10' also stars Neil Bhoopalam and Darshan Kumar of 'Mary Kom' fame and has been directed by 'Manorama Six Feet Under' helmer Navdeep Singh.

Anushka has shed her girl-next-door image for the film in which she will be seen doing a lot of action.

"It does not matter being a girl or boy. An action film is difficult for anyone. It was difficult for me, Neil and Darshan. Shooting the film was a great experience. We were working with a great team. Navdeep is a great director," she said.

The actress, who had initially said no to 'NH10' due to unavailability of dates, said she is glad to have done the film.
