Footage was shared on Twitter which showed a group of women on the front of a penthouse apartment on the Dubai Marina. The footage captured from a nearby building shows several naked women posing on the balcony of a building while a man was filming them.
According to Dubai police, they have arrested "group of people who appeared in an indecent video" on charges of public debauchery.
State-linked newspaper The National reported that it seems that the women stripped naked to pose on the balcony for a publicity stunt.
The incident has left everyone shocked in Muslim-majority UAE where people have been put behind bars in the past for much tamer behaviour, like kissing in public or drinking alcohol without a license.
According to an Associated Press report, violations of the public decency law in the United Arab Emirates, including for nudity and other 'lewd behaviour'.

"Such unacceptable behaviours do not reflect the values and ethics of Emirati society," a Dubai police statement said. "A criminal case has been registered against the arrested, and they have been referred to the Public Prosecution for further legal action," the statement added.
It is to be noted that the UAE is quite liberal as compared to its Middle Eastern neighbours but it has strict laws when it comes to social media.
