What are your strongest talents?
I feel I have very strong communication skills, whether it's speaking in front of a group or one-on-one. I also feel that I'm well-rounded which gives me the ability to relate to a wide variety of people. Another strong talent of mine is being a very positive person. I try to never look on the downside of things. I always make a point to look at what I have to be grateful for.
Name one person, family, friend, celebrity, who has had the most influence on your life.
Joan Brown. My mom always encourages me to do my best and go beyond my limits. She's always very supportive, and always wants the best for me. My mom has been an awesome counselor and advisor for me throughout the years. Whenever I don't succeed, she is there to motivate me to try again. She has taught me to respect myself and love who I am. She has also taught me by example that you don't need the influence of alcohol to have fun.
Describe how you envision yourself in five years?
If my life doesn’t surprisingly take me in another direction, in five years I see myself at Creighton Medical School pursuing my Doctorate in Occupational Therapy.
What else do you want the judges to know about you?
I want them to know that throughout high school I've had to resist a great deal of peer pressure. I have successfully said, "No" to drinking alcohol, and because I said no I lost close relationships with some of my best friends. I would love the opportunity to speak to adolescents around the country about making good decisions. I also want them to know that I'm a very hard working person, and I always strive to do my very best in completing and achieving any goals or tasks.
