Miss District of Columbia
Kate Michael
What is your hometown like?
Washington, D.C., is the meeting place of our country's influential leaders and representatives and home to the president, over 150 foreign embassies and other diverse residents. D.C. is a city of both rich history and a promising future.
What were you like when you were a child?
I have always been very independent and very social. My family moved often and my parents laughed that I would immediately go knocking on doors in the new neighborhood looking for children my age to play with!
Who is the most influential person in your life?
For a mentor, I often look to my boss, Senator Johnny Isakson, who is a man of character and integrity. He has taught me about diplomacy, honor and the necessity of making thoughtful and thorough decisions.
What is one thing about you that people you meet may not immediately realize?
I know how to change a flat tire.
What was one defining moment in your life?
Being selected to participate in the University of Georgia Honors in Washington internship program after my junior year started me on a career path that led me to Washington and shaped my life as I live it today.
What was one defining moment in your life?
Confidence is crucial.
What was one defining moment in your life?
In addition to advocating for the cause of literacy partnerships on the national stage, I want to combine my talents and experiences to benefit the United States on a level other than that of my legislative career. I want to be a role model for children and adults alike to represent the relationship building, the communication and the graciousness of which Americans are capable.
