Where did you grow up? Tell us a little about your home town/city, and family.
I am proud and happy to say that I grew up in the beautiful, clean and advanced country, Singapore. Singapore is a vibrant and buzzing country that consists of highly knowledgeable and friendly people with fantastic infrastructure and financial advancement. I am sure people who have been to Singapore will truly love the place.
What Jobs have you done? What was the most interesting/bizarre?
I have been working as a model for 2 years. The most interesting things I’ve done as a model will be travelling around the world for shoots, met lots of people and it has certainly left me with beautiful memories and great experience.
What are your career ambitions, how do you plan to realise them?
I plan to start my career as a banker and when I’ve really accumulated enough experience, I wish to become a lecturer. I enjoy teaching and imparting my knowledge to the future generation, I wish to grow together with my students. I wish to become a president of a charity organisation and help the less privileged, educating the next generation about the joy of giving.
What is the proudest moment of your life? (Not including winning your National Title)
The proudest moment of my life is when I work as a volunteer for the home of handicapped children. I taught these children dancing and singing for a fund raising project. I am proud to present the children on the day of the performance and they thank me on stage. I am really touched and that I can make a difference to their lives and proving the fact that these children can live normally and happily.
What was the funniest/most embarrassing moment of your life?
The incident happened many years ago when I started modelling. I was doing my very first fashion show and I made mistakes during the sequence. It looked funny to the audience and at the same time embarrassing for me.
How has your life changed since winning your National Title?
After winning Miss Singapore, I realise I bear more responsibilities as a beauty queen. I have to present myself differently and be a role model for others. Having the ability to help the less fortunate, I plan to do lots of charity work and fundraising fulfilling my aim as "A Beauty with a Purpose".
Tell us about an interesting event you have attended, or a person that you have met.
I once met a famous writer in Singapore, she is Miss Catherine Lim from Singapore. She told/taught me that if I want to succeed in life I have to be persistent and be confident. Her philosophy in life is to be flexible and make friends with everyone as we’ll never know if they will be the ones helping us in the future. I truly enjoyed my interesting encounter with her.
What would you like to do, if you became Miss World 2004?
I would like to dedicate my time to doing charitable activities and using my title as Miss World to make a difference to everyone around the world and touch their hearts. It would be a great honour to do my part for the people and the under privileged.
If you had a personal motto what would it be?
My motto is to try my very best in everything I do and never regret for the things I’ve done. Since it’s the best I’ve done in every aspect, I’ll never regret.
