Miss Trinidad & Tobago
Magdalene Walcott
Age: 22Height: 6'
Hair Colour: Brown
Eye Colour: Brown
Student: Omardeen & ROYTEC, Accounting & General Management.
Occupation:
Accounts Receivable Officer.
Interests: I absolutely love to sing and dance. I am a frontline singer and treasurer with a champion Parang band. I also love the adrenaline and collective celebration associated with my country's national festival, Carnival. In my quieter moments I enjoy reading a good mystery novel, (especially novels by Dan Brown and John Grisham) and going to the movies.
Name one person, other than your parents, who has had the most influence on your life. Why?
About three years ago a complete stranger walked into my life and became my "Fairy God Mother". Mrs. Mary Stren is probably the main reason I am here today. While she was not the first to see my potential she actively encouraged and supported me, giving up much of her time and resources to ensure I fulfilled the potential she saw in me.
What is the most interesting or unique thing that has ever happened to you (aside from winning your title) and/or what is the most interesting thing about you?
The thing that most people find interesting about me is my ability to adapt to any situation or challenge, while keeping a cool head. I seldom complain, I accept the situation, change what I can and then work within the limitations that cannot be altered. This quality was instilled by my mother in my formative years. She would always remind my of the 'Serenity Prayer'.
What is your career ambition and what are you doing or plan to do to accomplish that goal?
My ultimate career goal is to be a Forensic Accountant. I am currently working on level 2 of the three level ACCA program and I have almost completed a Diploma in General Management. I also recently transferred to the accounting division of my workplace to gain practical experience in the field. These are the first steps in a long journey of study before I acheive my goal.
Describe where you were raised and what your childhood was like.
I grew up in a primarily single parent home since my dad passed away when I was nine. Because of this I learned responsibility at an early age since I had to help my mom with the family business and baby-sit my three younger brothers. We were generally a happy bunch though and had loads of love and support from our family, friends and neighbours who were like our extended family. This meant that I had many surrogate Aunts and Uncles who always kept me on my p's and q's. I was literally raised by the village.
List any interesting or unsual jobs you may have had.
Assisted in Sales in a street stall.
As a teenager I worked as a Clown.
What is your most unusual talent?
I have the uncanny ability to make myself comfortable and sleep practically anywhere. In a car, on an airplane, a boat, on the floor, in or outdoors... even standing up my mother teases.
