Translation:
Reticence is a form of pride, even with oneself,
No matter how unveiled you are within your many veils.
Yeh Jism Bhi Kya Cheez Hai;
Arzoo Kisiki Aur Bandgi Kisiki!
Jis Din Se Chala Hu Meri Manzil Pe Nazar Hai;
Aankho Ne Kabhi 'Mile' Ka Patthar Nahi Dekha!
Hai Mushtamil Numood-e-Suvar Par Wijood-e-Bahr;
Yan Kya Dhara Hai Qatra-o-Mauj-o-Hubab Mein!
Translation:
What appears as confirmation of the Ocean's actuality,
Is it merely a sum total of wave, drop, phosphorescence.
Utna Hi Mujhko Apni Haqeeqat Se Bood Hai;
Jitna Ki Vahm-e-Ghair Se Hoon Pech-o-Taab Mein!
Translation:
I am equidistanced from my own reality,
In proportion to the illusion of otherness.
Aansu Na Hote To Aankh Itni Khoobsurat Na Hoti;
Dard Na Hota To Khushiyon Kee Keemat Na Hoti;
Poori Karta Rabb Yun Hi Sab Muradein;
To Ibadat Kee Kabhi Zaroorat Na Hoti!
Rau Mein Hai Rakhsh-e-Umr Kahan Dekhiye Thamey;
Na Haath Baag Par Hai Na Pa Hai Rakab Mein!
Translation:
The horseman of life speeds by, where can it be stopped,
There are no hands on the reins, no feet in the stirrups.
Jaan Kyon Nikalne Lagi Hai Tan Se Dam-e-Sama;
Gar Woh Sada Samaai Hai Chang-o-Rabab Mein!
Translation:
Listening, why does a soul struggle to leave its body,
If the divine voice resides in the instruments before us.
Hain Aaj Kyon Zaleel Ke Kal Tak Na Thi Pasand;
Gustakhi-e-Farishta Hamare Janab Mein!
Translation:
Why today so disgraced, when yesterday was impermissible.
An angel's arrogant refusal to bow for me.
Ret Par Thak Ke Gira Hun To Hawa Puchti Hai;
Aap Iss Dasht Mein Kyon Aaye The Vahshat Ke Bagair!
