It was an emotional moment for Bollywood starlet Monica Bedi when her father Prem Kumar Bedi called on her at a women's prison here Monday.

This was their first meeting in four years. Monica, the girlfriend of mobster Abu Salem, is in judicial remand in connection with a case related to possession of a fake passport.

Prem was accompanied by his brother Purushottam Lal Bedi during the 30-minute meeting at the women's prison in Chanchalguda jail.

Prem, who has lived in Norway for many years, filed a petition Monday morning in the Special Court for Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) cases in Hyderabad, seeking permission to meet his daughter. The court permitted the meeting.

He later told the media he was moved to see his daughter in such a situation. "My daughter is innocent. I will do my best to bring my daughter out of the case as she is innocent," he said.

Prem and Purushottam earlier arrived here from their native village Chabbewal in Punjab.

Monica and Salem were extradited from Portugal in November 2005. They were charged with obtaining fake passports from the regional passport office in Hyderabad under fictitious names in 2001.
